My name is Brianna Meyer and this season I will be completing my fifth and final year with the Makaroff Youth Ballet. I have been dancing since I was four years old and have been at the Makaroff School of Ballet since I was ten years old. From an early age, I fell in love with the art of ballet. Through the ups and downs over the years, I would not want to be completing my time with ballet anywhere else.
Some of my favorite memories with MYB align with our various productions of the Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, and our latest spring show A Spoonful of Sugar, however, I’ve loved sharing my passion for ballet with the community through all of our productions.
Additionally, I am so thankful for the family that I have built with the other dancers at MYB. The camaraderie and friendship shared among the dancers at MYB is unparalleled, and I will forever cherish the friendships and memories I’ve made throughout my ballet journey.
This moment of graduating and leaving this company is very bittersweet for me. I am extremely grateful to have been taking class with Ms. Makaroff. For many years, she has helped me not only work to perfect the art of ballet on myself but has also taught me the importance of true and honest work, fortitude, strength, perseverance, and self-motivation. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a degree in Dairy Science and continue onto Vet School, and one day wear the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Even though I am not continuing my life with ballet, I know that the values and skills I have gained from MYB will carry with me in whatever path I take. The art of ballet will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I am so thankful to have grown up with my family at Makaroff Youth Ballet.
